Hello, I am trying to chart all the small booklets I have, using Pattern Maker or PCStitch. Anyone interested in contributing to this blog?

  1. These are absolutely beautiful. Do you know of a site that gives instruction on the correct way to stitch them? Thank you so much for the wonderful patterns you post. Suzie in Idaho

  2. Hello Suzie,

They are beautiful. We are fortunate to have people share their wonderful books.

As for the correct way to stitch them, I will leave it to visitors. I don't know of any sites. My skill level is cross stitching only. :D

Anyone one have any sites for Suzie?

  3. This type of embroidery is referred to as White Work. The primary stitch for this type of alphabet would be padded satin stitch. The only tricky part is to make your stitches parallel to one another. Plain satin stitch is easier, especially if you put cheater lines on the fabric. It was wildly popular at the time. Just think, no counting and only one color! They even had little stamps and stencils to put embroidery ink on the fabric. Laura 54
